Medical laser: safety

The laser at the practice is a powerful class IV Alexandrite Laser - Cynosure Apogee 9300 - considered to be the gold standard when it comes to laser hair removal. It has excellent efficacy with black hairs on white skin and still works well with lighter hairs and darker skins, thanks to the adjustment of various parameters.
Only white, blond and red hairs do not work, as well as very dark or black skins, which can benefit from another laser, the YAG, ... as well as from electric hair removal.

The cooler used in combination, which is also very powerful, sends cool air onto the skin before the laser hits it, in order to protect it from the pain, but especially from heat, which means that a greater amount of 'hair removing energy' can be applied.
Without this valuable accessory, a powerful shot of the laser could not be tolerated, either by the skin or by the patient.

Safety: The power of the laser must be properly controlled and medical training is necessary for this level of performance.
Nobody can anticipate, supervise and take responsibility technically for a treatment of this type better than a doctor.
This also allows analgesic treatment to be administered to patients who are concerned or who are very sensitive, in the case of treatments over extended areas of the body.

The doctor remains entirely responsible for this procedure even when it is performed by a colleague or by a qualified member of staff.
